One Day is the tenth track from the 1997 album Urban Hymns, by Britpop band The Verve (see 1997 in music).
The song has intricate guitar work in the introduction, which is something found in the introduction of the previous track on the album, Lucky Man. The introduction also uses MIDI sound effects, such as the "rain" setting, FX1. There are only four chords in the whole piece (D (the tonic), C, G and A).
The lyrics appear to tell of a mysterious person, who does not like to run risks:

However, the narrator appears to want to cajole them:

The song uses a lot of images, of sand, roads, oceans and mountains.
