Once I Was Loved
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
"Once I Was Loved" is a song from the Academy Award nominated score song of The Slipper and the Rose. It was written by Richard M. Sherman and Robert B. Sherman and performed in the film by Gemma Craven as Cinderella. In the song a melancholy Cinderella longs for the happier times she shared with her parents who are no longer alive. The song ends positively though and through it we see good qualities in Cinderella's character. She sings:
Once I was loved, so always come what may, love's happy memory, ever will be loving me... |
[edit] Trivia
- The demo recording of this song was performed like a country western song which harkens back to the Sherman Brothers' songwriting beginnings when they wrote songs for Gene Autry, Kitty Wells and others.
