Omegism

Omegism is a philosophico-religious movement, devoted to the physical eschatology of Frank Tipler.
Tipler is an American mathematical physicist, working in general relativity. He developed a novel physical theology known as the omega point theory. In summary the theory holds the Universe to be closed, with no event horizons existing except the final singularity,, and that intelligent life will spread throughout the Universe in order to survive for all future time. To do this intelligence must take control of the Universe's evolution, guiding it towards an asymmetrical collapse. This will create a temperature difference that can be used to extract energy and dispose of heat all the way to the Singularity. In order to guide the Universe so, Life will need to perform an infinite number of physical manipulations, effectively computing an infinite of information, and living for an infinite subjective time by speeding up its internal clockspeed to match.
Up to this point atheist Omegists can accept Tipler's model. However Tipler goes further by claiming the Final singularity, the Omega Point, has certain properties akin to the traditional model of God. In Tipler's view the Omega Point is not only the Final Singularity for this Universe, but also for all Universes of our collective quantum Multiverse, and all possible Universes compatible with an Omega Point Singularity. Tipler claims that the Omega Point is physically real, and is able to influence events in all Universes of its Multiverse, guiding their evolution towards itself via backwards causation.
Omegist believers in non-specific God can follow Tipler's views up to this point, but in more recent discussions he tries for a merger with traditional Christianity, by positing an Omega Point model of the Christian Trinity. In his Multiverse quantum cosmology the Universes have Three Singularities that he identifies with the Trinity - they are Three and distinct from the point-of-view of individual Universes, but they are one from the perspective of Superspace.
