Omar Dhani

General Omar Dhani, Chief of the Indonesian Air Force Army from 1962 until 1966, was a left wing air force communist in Indonesia during Sukarno era. In his career on the Indonesian Air Force, Omar Dhani became the Minister of The Indonesian Air Force in 1962. His support for the President was not popular in Suharto's (the man who would betray the then President) mind. Indonesian public know Omar Dhani supported for the coup allegedly launched by the Indonesian Communist Party on 30 September and 1 October 1965. The fact is he was supporting any effort to suppress the movement against Sukarno which at that time was allegedly performed by the Army. He was then arrested and being sent to prison by the Indonesian new government lead by Suharto.
He was excused from his political views in 1995 and became one of the main source for the researches of the Air Force roles during the coup.
