Olympism, also know as the Olympic Movement, is the movement Pierre de Coubertin created with his foundation of the modern Olympic Games in 1894.
According to the Olympic Charter, the main goal of Olympism is to contribute to building a peaceful and better world by educating youth through sport practised without discrimination of any kind. This is embodied by the Olympic spirit, which requires mutual understanding in a spirit of friendship, solidarity and fair play.
