Olszyc

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Olszyc Szlachecki is a small village in Domanice community, in province Mazowieckie, Poland. Here live about 280 inhabitants. It neighbours Olszyc Włościański, Olszyc Folwark, Emilianówka, Czachy, Trzciniec, Kopcie, and Helenów. The village is 24 km away from the town- Siedlce. People, who live in Olszyc, are farmers or work in Siedlce. In Olszyc there are two food shops and a primary school, where children study from six to thirteen years old. In the centre of Olszyc we have a small chapel, where people pray every Sunday. Here is also a fire-fighters house, where almost every Saturday there is a party. Olszyc is a beautiful place- we have a small river- the Kostrzyń which flows through the village (and joins the Liwiec river) and a few small ponds, where people fish. Around Olszyc there are a lot of woods, where in the summer people collect mushrooms and blueberries. Probably the name Olszyc has two origins- dominant trees in my village are alders and surname founder was Olszewski etc. Vegetations are typical of Eastern Europe. When we arrive at Olszyc for holiday or weekend, we will be able to drink milk straight from cows, eat traditional dish, admire scenery and rest in the clean ,open air.
