Ollie is a twenty one year old physics student at the University of Nottingham in the UK, with an interest in computing. Despite that, he rarely edits articles that fall into those fields. He enjoys procrastinating, so editing Wikipedia is something he often does!

[edit] Things I often find myself doing on Wikipedia

[edit] Major Contributions

Most of these contributions involve vigorous copy-editing rather than new content. Here are a few articles I've worked on:

[edit] Vandals

Some people think it's fun to vandalise Wikipedia. It's not! Here are some suggestions to prevent vandalism:

  • Friends of gays should not be allowed to edit articles
One of the most active groups of vandals is overly proud friends and acquaintances of gays and lesbians. Therefore, Friends of gays should not be allowed to edit articles.
  • If You Must Vandalise, Vandalise Chickens
For the sake of accuracy, Wikipedia must cover Every Topic In The Universe Except Chickens.

Sadly, some people like to vandalise this page instead of Chickens! So far this has happened three times.

Hey! You! Please don't vandalise Wikipedia at all! But please do have a sense of humour!

[edit] Copyvios

  • Revert the page to a non-copyrighted version if you can
  • Blank the page and replace the text with
     ~~~~
  • Go to today's section and add
    *  from [insert URL here] ~~~~
to the bottom of the list. Put the page's name in place of "PageName". If you do not have a URL, enter a description of the source.
  • Add the following to the talk page of the contributor of the copyrighted material:
~~~~

[edit] Copyright Answer

Hi. Have a look at Wikipedia:Copyrights for Wikipedia's copright policy. Wikipedia aims to be a free encyclopedia (free as in speech, as well as free as in beer) that is useable elsewhere. Because you have permission to use the text only on Wikipedia, this condition is not met. Generally, text used on Wikipedia from elsewhere must be licensed under the GFDL, which basically states that text can be freely copied anywhere. I hope this helps answer your question. ~~~~

[edit] New User Context Message

ARTICLE
I nominated your article ARTICLE for speedy deletion because the article has little or no context. Have a look at the resources above and then think about recreating the article, including some information about context and notability. Have fun editing Wikipedia!
