Ole Due

Ole Due (1931 - January 21, 2005 in Hillerød), was a Danish judge and the President of the European Court of Justice.
Ole Due was born in Denmark in 1931. After a career with the Danish Ministry of Justice, during which he had notably been involved with the technical adaptation of European Community acts at the time of the Community enlargement in 1973 when Denmark and the United Kingdom became members of the European Community and the drawing up of the Treaty of Accession, he became legal adviser to the Østre Landsret (Eatern High Court of Appeal) in Copenhagen in 1978. Due was also a member of the Danish delegation to the Hague Conference on private international law.
Appointed judge of the Europan Court of Justice on October 7, 1979, he became President on October 7, 1988, a post which he held until October 6, 1994.
