[edit] Route description
State Highway 44 begins at an intersection with U.S. 283 in the Quartz Mountains, near Lake Altus-Lugert. It heads northeast from this point, running on the east side of the river, to Lone Wolf, where it begins a three-mile duplex with State Highway 9. OK-44 then heads north to Sentinel (where it meets OK-55) and to OK-152 near Burns Flat.
Near Foss it has an interchange with Interstate 40 (Interchange 53) before meeting State Highway 73 for a two-mile duplex. OK-44 then runs along the east side of Foss Lake before ending at OK-33 near Butler.
