OH-031st AFJROTC

The OH-031st Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps is a medium sized AFJROTC unit established in Fairborn High School, Fairborn, Ohio[1]. A Group level unit, the OH-031st has roughly 140 cadets each year, larger than most units in Ohio. The Current Senior Aerospace Science Instructor (SASI) is Major Anthony Rulli, having served that role since 1995, and the current Aerospace Science Instructor (ASI) is Senior Master Sergeant Dale A. Fritz, who has been with the unit since 1998[2].

Fairborn hosts a drill meet every year. The meet has anywhere from 10-20 units present, and usually occours in the springtime. The unit itself doest not present many competition teams, but they do have a competition Color Guard.

[edit] Color Guard

The OH-031 Color Guard team is open to any cadet. They fly the colors at the home football games, basketball games, parades, cermonies, and competitions. Color Guard memebers normally pracitce after school and learn the proper care and use of the flags. Members who particpate in 75% of events will be eligible for the color guard rope and ribbon. Temporary rank is also provided to the elite members of the Color Guard.

[edit] Kitty Hawk Air Society

OH-031 is the home of the Huffman Prairie Chapter of the Kitty Hawk Air Society. They perform various activities at the disgression of the SASI and the ASI.

[edit] Model Rocketry Club

OH-031 also hosts a small rocketry club, whose main purpose is to construct and fly model rockets. Rocketry club is also open to any cadet of the unit.

[edit] Orienteering

A large Orineteering team has been established in the unit as well. They usually compete in any Miami Valley orienteering competitions that are held in the spring and fall of the school year.
