Oh, Snap! is an expression of disbelief. It was popularized by Biz Markie in the 1989 song "Just a Friend". It has also entered use as acknowledgement of a diss by third parties, to heighten the feeling of disrespect and insult. "Oh, Snap!" has been known to be used as a form of salutation. It may also be used as an expression of shock or amazement. It is also another way of saying "zing!"

  • NBC's My Name Is Earl: Jaime Pressly's character, Joy, uses this expression extensively throughout the series.
  • Disney Channel's That's So Raven: Raven-SymonĂ©'s character Raven Baxter uses 'Oh Snap!' as a catchphrase for when in trouble or in a dilemma.
  • Zoolander : Ben Stiller's character (Derek Zoolander) says "Oh snap! How do you live? How do you live?" when Christine Taylor's character admits it's been a long time since she's had sex.
  • In The Boondocks animated series, Martin Luther King says, "Oh, snap! No they didn't", in relation to his delight in discovering that following a 32-year coma, some restaurants sell boneless rib sandwiches.
  • In Futurama season 4 episode 10 ("The Why of Fry"), Philip Fry, after lamenting his uselessness as a person, is told by the Nibblonians that he is the single most important man in the universe. He responds nonchalantly, "Oh, snap!"
  • Peter Stormare uses this phrase in the VW Unpimp your Ride III commercial
