The original building was built in 1923 at 5th Street and Atlantic Avenue, with multiple additions and alterations made over the years; the last including a large new library in 1983. The student population had long overgrown the facility, and a new school was built across the street between 2003-05. The original school was demolished in 2004; replaced by a parking lot and tennis courts. Only the original Gothic-style arch that once served as the entrance to the old building remains standing.
