Template talk:Obscene

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I have a slight concern that this template might give vandals ideas by listing ways they could vandalize articles (see Wikipedia:Don't stuff beans up your nose). I wonder if a vandal might think, "hey, I never thought of inserting provocative pictures before!" Anyone think this is a valid concern or have any ideas? delldot | talk 00:01, 1 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Rock and a hard place

Some novice editors may make edits that violate the guideline that this template refers to after getting a {{subst:not censored}} on their user talk pages. What are the guidelines as to when using this template would cause too much confusion? --Damian Yerrick () 22:49, 29 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] obscene, or utterly gross

This last edit makes the notice redundant, slightly overemphasized, and perhaps not adhering to WP:NPOV (how do we define "utterly gross"?) I use this template frequently, and the change jumped out at me immediately. I would vote to revert to the previous version. --KeithB 21:50, 7 November 2006 (UTC)

I agree. I think this is kind of overkill. Since no one has argued against it, I'm going to go ahead and be bold and remove it. Others can revert me or discuss it further if they want. Peace, delldot | talk 20:52, 1 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Edit request

Should probably link to Wikipedia:Profanity, somehow. 68.39.174.238 01:05, 9 December 2006 (UTC)
