[edit] Season 2004/05

The Oberliga was divided again regionally into the Oberliga Nord-Ost and the Oberliga Süd with originally in each case 11 teams. The odd number was rather inadvertent already, since the Ratinger Ice Aliens had a permission for the DEB range, but of the regional organization Landesverband NRW didn't get a release.

On 17. November 2004, the team ERC Haßfurt Sharks, due to Insolvency, from the play enterprise, on which all were cancelled so far against this crew played portions of the Oberliga Nord-Ost. To reconciliation for the failing heimspiele of the remaining crews a qualification round was introduced to DEB-Pokal in that the team free from play against on the respective day the planned opponent ERC Haßfurt Sharks start. This qualification round is seized and entitled in a separate table the two bestplazierten not-ascent-entitled teams to the participation in the first round DEB-Pokals the following season.
