Oasis (computer game)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Oasis is a computer game (for PC) developed by Mind Control Software and published by PlayFirst in April 2005. It is a turn-based strategy/puzzle game set in ancient Egypt. Each level is a 10x10 black grid which is revealed as the player clicks on the squares. The player has eighty-five turns to prepare for a barbarian invasion.

Oasis "has been described as Civilization meets Minesweeper, as it has the quick, clicky feel of Minesweeper, and the empire building aspects of Civilization." (1)

Oasis took eight full-time developers two years and five months to make. It won the Independent Games Festival’s 2004 "Game of the Year" and "Innovation in Game Design" awards in the web/downloadable category.

In addition, most of the popularity gained for this game originated from the Reflexive.net site, which promotes and advertizes an abundant amount of independent games.
