Oakthorpe and Donisthorpe

Oakthorpe and Donisthorpe is civil parish in the North West Leicestershire district of Leicestershire, England. According to the 2001 census it had a population of 2336. It includes Oakthorpe and Donisthorpe.

Both Oakthorpe and Donisthorpe enjoy beauty spots such as the Saltersford valley Picnic area and Lake nicknamed by local residents as 'the floods'. An annual walk takes place from Measham to Moira called the Wildflower walk to raise funds for the Local Mobility Bus. Donisthorpe currently is being transformed, as the Ashby Canal is being reinstated in the village. Eventually the restored canal will run through Oakthorpe as well. In Oakthorpe, a street named 'Canal Street' shows where the canal once ran through.
