Photo taken by Aran Johnson on a United Airlines flight from SFO to PHL on Nov 30, 2004. View is out of left hand window as plane was heading East.
In the center of image is Oakland's Lake Merritt which is directly under the high rise filled downtown Oakland.
In the upper left portion of the image the Port of Oakland is visible as is the Oakland portion of the San Francisco Oakland Bay Bridge. In the upper right portion of the image are the towns of Emeryville and Berkeley.
Two major freeways are visible. On the left side of the image travelling from the bottom to the top is CA-880, also known as 'The Nimitz.' On the right side of the image is CA-580.
The body of water at the top of the picture is the San Francisco Bay. The estuary on the left side of the image is the Oakland Estuary, which separates Oakland from Alameda Island.
