O'Neill Family Hall is a men's residence hall on the campus of University of Notre Dame in Notre Dame, Indiana. It is located between McGlinn Hall and Keough Hall on West Quad. O'Neill hall was awarded Men's Hall of the Year during the 2004-2005 Academic year, and was in fact the first dorm from West Quad to receive this award.
O'Neill is known for several signature events. Originally known for it's Mardi Gras celebration (an on-campus hall event/party so large it was rivaled only by the Alumni Wake), O'Neill is now known for such events as the Miss ND Pageant and Recess.
The chapel in O'Neill Hall is dedicated to St. Joseph the Worker.
The current rector is Ed Mack, who replaced Fr. John Herman C.S.C. (2000-2003).

[edit] History
Established in 1996, O'Neill became both the first residence hall built on West Quad and the first residence hall constructed for men since Flanner and Grace Halls were built in 1969. The first residents of O'Neill came mostly from Grace Hall, a dorm that contained more than 500 students and spanned 11 floors. When the decision was made to use Grace, along with Flanner, for administrative purposes, the majority of Grace residents went to either O'Neill or Keough. According to legend, the students were angry about their relocation, and consequently they held a series of bonfires in protest. When the time came to choose a mascot for O'Neill, residents decided to carry on the memory of their former dorm by naming themselves the Angry Mob.
O'Neill Hall was endowed by the O'Neill family who are Texas oil industrialists. In particular, Joseph O'Neill (who was involved in introducing President George W. Bush to his wife Laura) was instrumental in having the dorm constructed and continues to maintain an active presence with the hall community. The dorm is dedicated in honor of his father who is also named Joseph.
