Nyriandiol
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Nyriandiol is the geomantic fortress of the Geomancer Gilhaelith in Ian Irvine's The Well of Echoes quartet.
It is situated on the crater of the volcano, Booreah Ngurle. Gilhaelith built it there over a century ago because of the double node that is there. Every stone of Nyriandiol was placed in it's exact position because of it's Geomantic value. When at Nyriandiol, Gilhaelith's already vast power, is increased dramatically, as Nyriandiol was built for the purpose of helping further his interest in the Geomantic Art. On the other hand, Gilhaelith believes that he is not a shadow of the Geomancer that he is at Nyriandiol, than when he's not there.
Though Gilhaelith refers to Nyriandiol as a "house", it is more of a laboratory and is almost the size of the entire manufactory near Tiksi. It is built completely of stone and is furnished by the finest of things.
