Nyoka the Jungle Girl
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Nyoka the Jungle Girl is a Fawcett and later Charlton and AC comic book first published in 1940. The comic cannot accurately be described as a generic "Jungle Girl" comic book popular in the 1940s since Nyoka was simply an expatriot American girl who lived in the jungle.
The character first appeared in The Land of Hidden Men (1932) (aka Jungle Girl) by Edgar Rice Burroughs. However, Nyoka is listed one of the intellectual properties sold to Charlton by Fawcett in the 1950s after the National Comics Publications v. Fawcett Publications lawsuit, and was purchased by AC Comics when Charlton closed shop, though the original source of the character may make any intelectual property claims by these publishers dubious.
Nyoka appeared in the serials Jungle Girl (1941) and Perils of Nyoka (1942).
