Nyia is the name of a pagan demon of death in polish mythology, of souls of dead people. In long forgotten times people prayed to Nyia to get a better place after death.

Nyia is also the name of a Polish metalcore/technical death metal band, formed in 1999 by Szymon Czech and Wojciech Szymanski.
