[edit] NYC Pitch and Shop Conference

The NYC Pitch and Shop Conference is a unique conference for aspiring authors, divided into pitch sessions and pitch workshops. Held quarterly, the conference brings writers together with top quality editors from major publishing houses. On an average, one out of three manuscripts are requested for further review by editors. Additionally, the pitch workshops not only teach writers how to pitch, but use the pitch as a diagnostic tool to determine what steps must be taken to make the manuscript a viable commercial product.

Editors who attend the conference come from Holt, Tor, Scribners, Simon and Schuster, Viking, and many other houses. The conference is operated by the New York Writers Workshop and Algonkian Writer Conferences and is already developing a reputation for assisting writers in getting published.
