NWA Southwest

NWA Southwest is a professional wrestling promotion based out of Dallas, Texas. It is an official member territory of the National Wrestling Alliance and is run by Ken Taylor. NWA Southwest promotes shows throughout Texas and Oklahoma.

NWA Texas was a long running promotion within the National Wrestling Alliance from the 1960s through 1986, when the promotion withdrew from the Alliance and became an independent regional promotion. The NWA Texas Heavyweight Title was one of the major state titles within the Alliance and was the cornerstone of the promotion.

In November 1997, Promoter Ken Taylor's NWA Southwest promotion was awarded the state of Texas as their NWA territory. The Texas Heavyweight Title, active from 1945-1986, was resumed in 1998; the Texas Junior Heavyweight Title, active from 1950-1964, was resumed in 1999, and the Texas Tag Team Titles, active from 1941-1981, was resumed in 1998.

[edit] Wrestling Academy

NWA Southwest runs a wrestling academy based in Denton, TX known as the NWA-SW Wrestling Academy. It is run by veterans Super T and Livewire. Alumni of the academy are promoted to the NWA Southwest roster. Notable alumni include WWE superstar Brian "Spanky" Kendrick and TNA superstar Hernandez.
