Nuzvid (also called Nujiveedu) is a municipality in Krishna District, Andhra Pradesh, India. It is 50km from Vijayawada and 35 km from Eluru. This place is well connected by bus and rail. Nuzvid is world famous for Mango fruits. This place is pollution free unlike big towns and cities like Hyderabad, Vijayawada, and Vishakhapatnam etc. This is free of automobile pollution, which is a big menace in big towns and cities.Nuzvid is world famous for Mango fruits and Gardens.There are hundreds of varieties of mangoes. Mangoes from this city are exported to various contries in the world. Nuzvid is very famous for mangoes called "NUZVID CHINNA RASAM" and "BANGANAPALLI".
Nuzvid is also famous for palaces ruled by various kings. This city is also famous for the Dasara festival.

As of 2001 India censusGRIndia, Nuzvid had a population of 50,338. Males constitute 51% of the population and females 49%. Nuzvid has an average literacy rate of 69%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 74%, and female literacy is 63%. In Nuzvid, 11% of the population is under 6 years of age.

[edit] M.R. APPA RAO
Born in Nuzvid zamindar (landlord/ruler) family, Mr. MEKA Rangayya Appa Rao plunged into politics early in life. He was elected to the Assembly from Nuzvid in all elections from 1952 to 1978 and was a minister in the Cabinets of Neelam Sanjiva Reddy and Brahmananda Reddy. He was later elected to the Rajya Sabha.
He was a contemporary of Bezwada Gopala Reddy and P.V.G. Raju.
He was Vice-Chancellor of Andhra University for two terms. He started Dharma Appa Rao (DAR) college at Nuzvid in 1966 and Mr. Yarrozu Madhavachary was the first Principal. Mr. Rao was a tennis player too.
He was elected to the Assembly from Nuzvid defeating the CPI (Communist Party of India)candidate, Dasari Nagabhushana Rao, in 1952. He never tasted defeat in elections except in 1989 when he contested as TDP (Telugu Desam Party) candidate from Nuzvid and lost to the Congress candidate, Paladugu Venkata Rao who worked against his own Congress-I party, at that time, and favoured his opposition - TDP.
M.R. Appa Rao died in Nuzvid on January 31st after a prolonged illness. He embraced Christianity and had written a book on Life of Jesus in Telugu language. He is survived by wife and an adopted son.

Nuzvid is a good education centre for the surrounding areas. SRRZP High School (Sri Raja Rangarayappa Zilla Parishad High School) which is more than 110 years old, is one of the oldest schools in Andhra Pradesh and lot of celebrities studied in this school.This school Centenary celebrations were held in 1993.Other Prominent Schools are 1.St Anns English Medium School 2.ST.Thomas School 3.ZP Girls High School 4.Vijaya Convent. 5.Nirmala Convent.
Dharma Appa Rao College (DAR College) caters all the branches in Science and social studies up to graduation level.
Acharya Nagarjuna University Postgraduate Extension Center is also situated in Nuzvid.
Sarathi College of Engineering,Affiliated to JNTU is a Premier Techinical Education inistituation Offering Courses like B.Tech,MCA.Medical and B. Ed. colleges are also located within a 5km radius of the city.

Two Gates Constructed by Nuzvid Zamindars are very famous in the Town.Those are well identified with the names Kukkala Gate and Gurrala Gate.
Nuzvid Veena is very famous in the world.Veena making units are located near Venkateswara Swami Kovela.
Hanuman Temple,Saraswati Temple,Ayyappa Temples are located 5 Km away from Nuzvid.Hanuman Temple is also famous with the name Adavi Anjaneya Swami Temple.There are only two Saraswati temples located in Andhrapradesh.The other Saraswati temple is in Basara.

Basket Ball court in DAR College is very famous. Several national and international basketball players were produced from this court. Every year, a basketball tournament is conducted in this court. All the leading teams from India participate in this tournament.
During Dussehra festival Chedugudu Poteelu (a Kabaddi championship) will be held in SRRZP High School.

Nuzvid has been ruled by Velama Dora Zamindars from the past 200 years. However their descendants losts their assets and are of no significance now. Still you can see theor forts in the town where the educational institutions are hosted. They donated all their properties and are bankrupt now. And the grand children of Zamindars are busy with court cases trying to acquire the donated and sold properties by their ancestors.
