Nuri Şahin (born September 5, 1988 in Lüdenscheid, Germany) is a Turkish football (soccer) player at the position of midfielder. He currently plays for Borussia Dortmund. On August 6, 2005, at the age of 16 years and 335 days, Sahin set a record by becoming the youngest player to have played in the Bundesliga. He also became the youngest player to score in the Bundesliga on November 26, scoring against 1. FC Nürnberg. He won the bronze ball prize at the FIFA Youth-World championships in Peru after a wonderful tournament finishing in fourth place. He is considered one of the top young talents in Europe and the great hope for the future of Turkish football.
He is also the youngest player ever to have played and scored for the Turkish national team, ironically scoring against Germany. His performances have reportedly interested Manchester United after Arsenal and Chelsea lost interest.
His former coaches include Abullah Avcı.
