[edit] Split?

With the recent events in the Season 3 premiere, particularly with Sharon having now taken Helo's name and reports that her callsign will be different as well, an increasing divide is seperating these two distinct characters. Now may be the time to acknowledge that by spliting the article about Boomer-Sharon and Caprica-Sharon into two seperate articles.

[edit] Split Sharon Valerii

This is the Sharon that Cally killed

[edit] Split Sharon Agathon

This is the Sharon that Helo married

[edit] Split Number Eight (Battlestar Galactica)

This would include all other Eight`s, such as leader-Eight that replaced Sharon Agathon.

[edit] Discussion

This is going to be an issue for all of the human-form Cylons, especially Number Six. CovenantD 23:06, 8 October 2006 (UTC)

  • I agree. The Sharons are part of the same model line obviously, but they are individuals. While they obviously share the same memories up to a point, they have had vastly different experiences since the future Sharon Agathon was left on Caprica with Helo and Sharon Valerii flew back to Galactica from Caprica with Baltar. Therefore they should be given separate and full articles in their own rights. The article about the number eight models in general should be concern with the overall similarities between units and the individual units that we have briefly seen, like the 8 unit seen in the Caprica movie theater in "Flight of the Pheonix" or the one the future Sharon Agathon shot defending Helo on Caprica. The same should be done with Gina and Caprica Six if it hasn't been already. Hunter2005 03:40, 9 October 2006 (UTC)
I disagree. See my reasoning on the similar Number Six discussion... Part of the reason Caprica-Sharon's section is so long is that it's just a long mix of plot synopses. It really needs to be trimmed down a lot. Character pages should discuss the nature of the character and the character's role in the show, not just list every significant (or insignificant) plot event the character was involved in. If the extraneous stuff is removed, the article will be much more manageable, and shouldn't require splitting. -- Fru1tbat 16:45, 14 October 2006 (UTC)
I've made some significant cleanup efforts. I tried to maintain as much of the original content/intent as I could, but there was a lot of fluff there. I summarized a lot of the events that were too detailed before. After thinking about it further, I think you may be right about Sharon Agathon being significant enough to have her own article. I disagree about Galactica-Sharon, though. She's still aligned with the Cylons, and apart from her history while a sleeper agent during the first season, hasn't done that much to distinguish herself from other Number Eight copies. -- Fru1tbat 18:45, 14 October 2006 (UTC)
I like the cleanup. I'd still be in favor of keeping the various Sharon's together for now - the article isn't too large, they are still essentially the same character, and it's nice to see all the info in one place. If this series is successful enough to go several years, I'm sure the split will come up again. CovenantD 19:17, 14 October 2006 (UTC)
I agree, one article for all the Eight models seems right. Splitting them will make it even harder to find specific information for a casual reader. It is supposed to provide an overview for the character(s) that people who never saw the show can understand. This is not the Battlestar Wiki, where different articles are mandatory, of course. -- EnemyOfTheState 00:50, 17 October 2006 (UTC)
Now that the two Sharons have different callsigns (Boomer, Athena), original series counterparts (Boomer, Athena), ranks (LJG and Lieutenant), character histories, and outlooks, I'd suggest that they be split to keep from cluttering. Also, now that they have different last names and callsigns, I'd suggest removing the "Caprica" and "Galactica" modifiers, since a) they are no longer accurate, and b)they are no longer needed.Monsieurxander 04:06, 4 November 2006 (UTC)
I think they should be split into seperate articles. Anyone else feel like a toaster now? :P--KrossTalk 11:37, 6 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Athena

Now that Sharon Agathon has gained the callsign "Athena," shouldn't there be applicable comparisons to the original series character? I realize that Lieutenant Athena from the original series is Adama's daughter, whereas in the reimagined series she is his close confidante (and possible surrogate daughter). However, I don't know much else about the original Athena's character, save from what I've read on her wiki page, so I'm not the person to make such comparisons. -- Monsieurxander
