Nigel Uno a.k.a. his codename Numbuh 1 is the basic main character and leader of Sector V of the Kids Next Door in the animated series Codename: Kids Next Door. He is voiced by Benjamin "Ben" Diskin.

[edit] Joining the Kids Next Door
Numbuh 1 was the second operative of Sector V to join the Kids Next Door, after Numbuh 5, who got him into the KND. During his training while he fights a robot, Numbuh 274 seems jealous of him and he may be involved with the reason for Numbuh 1 didn't pass the KND entrance exam, though Numbuh 5 hacked into the computer system and changed his score so he could get in. How he joined the KND is revealed in Operation: T.R.E.A.T.Y.

Nigel Uno, known by his codename Numbuh One, is a fictional character and leader of Sector V of the Kids Next Door. His alias is "The Leader". He is in fact a tactical genius. He is among the minority of KND operatives (Numbuh 101, Sector E) that believed that Numbuh 0 and the Book of KND existed before Operation: Z.E.R.O.
In Operation: Q.U.I.E.T. he receives a reward for greatest defense system, also he is the one to turn on all anti-adult shields and other related weaponry/treehouse technology.
In Operation: S.A.T.U.R.N., after Rainbow Monkeys rain from the sky, they reveal his secret blue Rainbow Monkey plush which he hides under his pillow.
It’s always "the hard way" with Numbuh One, as the Delightful Children, Numbuh 86 and some other characters say. This means he is not the one to give up easily. He had a horrible singing voice in Operation: D.I.A.P.E.R., but seemed to sing just fine in Operation: L.O.V.E., although someone may have been voicing him, according to Tom Warburton. In Operation: G.R.A.D.U.A.T.E.S., when Father turned all the KND members into animals, Numbuh One was turned into either a seal or a sea lion.

He could be phobiac of insects as he is scared of flies as shown in Operation: T.H.E.-F.L.Y.
[edit] Other Leaders of Sector V
On occasions others have taken over leadership as Sector V: in Operation: C.A.N.N.O.N. Numbuh 4 declared himself Permanent Temporary Numbuh 1's Not Here Leader of the Kids Next Four and soon permanent leader but Numbuh 1 came back from a trip. Also in Operation: L.E.A.D.E.R., Lizzie worried Numbuh 1 was tired, so she (unbeknownst to Numbuh 1) said she was leader and took over the next mission. In Operation: F.E.R.A.L., Numbuh 3 was temporary leader of Sector V when Numbuh 1 was ape-ified. Numbuh 1 seems to be a great leader and has a gift and skill for it, as all the others show no sign of skill whatsoever. Apparently, mentioned in Operation: F.E.R.A.L., Numbuh 5 was leader but was never leader again after something dreadful happened addressed as "you know what" to Numbuh 86, because when she was leader Numbuh 1 became bald and she blames herself for it. Before Numbuh 1 was leader and even before Numbuh 5 was leader, supposedly KND Numbuh 11/Cree Lincoln was leader of Sector V.

Nigel usually wears a red sweater, grey shorts, and brown boots (which contain booster rockets, allowing for flight when he claps his ankles together twice). He is seldom seen without his sunglasses. They are a symbol of pride in KND leadership. (They are also prescription sunglasses.) He is bald, when he had hair it was brown, as when he was kidnapped by the Delightful Children From Down The Lane and Numbuh 5 didn't rescue him in time, the DCFDTL made him bald. This was before he was in the KND. He claims he had cool hair. It was also shown in Operation: B.U.T.T. that Numbuh One wears Rainbow Monkey briefs. He also has Rainbow Monkey pajamas, as shown in Operation: S.A.T.U.R.N., although in other episodes he has been seen in his pajamas that are different that have the number "1" on them. He prefers cotton socks over wool socks because he thinks wool socks are too itchy.

Numbuh 1 was born in England, but moved away when he was about three years old because his father got a job in the United States of America in the local orchestra as 16th tuba. He speaks with an English accent, like his parents. He is from Great Britain, and his blankets are decorated with a Union Jack. He doesn't remember much of England, as he didn't know they spoke the same language as they do in the United States of America.Possibly, as a result of this, he uses American expressions (dollar, mom etc.)

Currently ten (having his tenth birthday in Operation: J.E.W.E.L.S., which supposedly took place long ago), Numbuh 1’s personality focuses on his duties of being a KND operative, many times annoying his teammates. He is probably the most devoted to the KND on his team, Sector V, and is a workaholic. He is very caught up in his work and never rests, which can cause conflict with his team when they want to relax at the beach or feel that he is taking his job too seriously, etc. (Numbuh 1 dislikes the beach because he finds it boring). In Operation: B.R.I.E.F., it is clear he loves missions, for after a busy day he suggested another mission just for fun to his sector, who were all exhausted. He was very hyper then. Because of this, he is usually the one to motivate Numbuhs Two, Three, Four, and Five to act. In Operation: B.U.T.T., his team actually made him take a day off at the beach. The first time he is seen relaxing is in Operation: H.O.L.I.D.A.Y. He is a bit paranoid (thinking that human babies came from eggs, thinking a prom was a gathering of evil teenagers, etc.). He was suspicious of Cree when her father mentioned her bra, which he thought was a weapon, which was true. He often gets annoyed with interferences with missions (Bradley in Operation: C.A.M.P., baby chicks in Operation: C.A.K.E.D.-T.H.R.E.E., etc.).

Numbuh 1 lives with his mother and father, Montgomery "Monty" Uno, as an only child, being the only only child of Sector V. Since Father/Benedict "Ben" Uno is Monty's younger brother, he is Numbuh 1's uncle, and since the Delightful Children From Down The Lane are Father's "children", they are his cousins, or rather stepcousins. Since the evil Grandfather is Monty and Father's father, he is Numbuh 1's grandfather. He has also mentioned a grandmother in Operation: G.R.O.W.-U.P. and Operation: B.R.I.E.F., who is Monty's mother. In the alternate world of Operation: W.H.I.T.E.-H.O.U.S.E., as an adult, he is married to his girlfriend, Elizabeth "Lizzie" Devine and they have a son named Shirley, who prefers to be called Viggo, and is also known as his codename in the Kids Next Door, Numbuh 1,600. In Operation: Z.E.R.O. he discovers Monty is the decommissioned Numbuh Zero, founder of the seventh age of KND. He was recommissioned for a little while. In Operation: H.O.L.I.D.A.Y., while him and Numbuh 10, leader of Sector L of the KND, are talking, they realize they are cousins since Numbuh 10's father is Numbuh 1's mother's long lost brother. In Operation: C.A.K.E.D.-T.H.R.E.E. baby chicks hatched from their eggs in his room and mistook him for their mommy. He got annoyed with them at first, but they ended up saving him. His father made his first appearance in Operation: O.O.M.P.P.A.H. and his mother made her first appearance in Operation: K.N.O.T., although her voice was heard in Operation: C.A.N.N.O.N.

Nigel is the only one in Sector V to have a girlfriend - Lizzie Devine. They were first seen together in Operation: L.I.Z.Z.I.E. Lizzie can be overprotective of Nigel, however, and his team, for the most part, doesn't seem to like her that much. Numbuh One, however, does seem to really care for Lizzie, such as when he went through great lengths to save her in Operation: S.N.O.W.I.N.G.

Negative Numbuh 1 (Legin Onu) is a member of the Destructively Nefarious Kids, the (formerly) evil counterparts to Sector V. As the opposite to Numbuh 1, Negative Numbuh 1 is a scaredy-cat and rarely, if ever, talks with any confidence. He also is a bad actor, since he almost gave himself and his ex-girlfriend Eizzil (rhymes with "easel") (the opposite of Numbuh 1's girlfriend Lizzie Devine) away when they were pretending to be Numbuh 1 and Lizzie.
