Thanks for the welcome.
Thanks Nufy8, for the welcome. You posted a {{welcome}} template on User talk:Blue520. Have I gone wrong some where with out realising it? and should nominate my self for the Clueless newbies page. Or is it just welcome, here is a {{welcome}} template for you because you are obviously new. If something is wrong I would like to know what it is. Thanks - Blue520 02:38, 4 October 2005 (UTC)
- Thanks for the reply. For a moment I thought I had done something stupid and missed it (not that hard to do), and it might have been a polite way of pointing it out. Thank you again for the welcome template, it look like it will be handy. All the best to you. Blue520 03:23, 4 October 2005 (UTC)

I hate to interrupt this little party, but are you guys gonna quote the entire movie as applied to Wikipedia? :) (Not that there's anything wrong with that. thanks for fixing up the article, my new name is miish111 just so you know, you can delete this section after you read it.
Do we really want this?!
My dear friend and fellow Wikipedian,
A proposal has been made here which could effect the way all featured articles, and perhaps even eventually all articles, are handled in the future. While it has the well-meaning intention of addressing some real problems, if it is adapted, I fear it will actually create more problems and possibly destroy the wonderfully open and collaborative nature of the Wikipedia we all so love.
I therefore, strongly urge you to join us who OPPOSE this potentially dangerous proposal. Thank you for your time, thoughts and words.--R.D.H. (Ghost In The Machine) 08:02, 28 October 2005 (UTC)

Darth Revan
Sorry, but your link to the page that states a male Revan is canon is malfunctioning. If you want to convince me that my trying to make it clearer that Revan can be male OR female, lightside OR darkside, and that none of them should take preference over the other, is somehow 'vandalism', then you should fix it. I checked the most recently printed Star Wars timeline book at Borders, and it doesn't have a gender listed for Revan.
- Edit- I'd still appreciate a source. Otherwise, I'm inclined to think it was a person without any real authority saying that Revan male LS was canon. I've never heard that stated anywhere else. (Unsigned comment by 24.6.28.56 (talk • contribs)
Quotes
I think you're right in relation to quoted speech, but when naming songs or quoting technical terms (for instance), any punctuation not part of the actual wording should be outside the quotemarks. For instance: Pantera wrote "Walk", which is a great song. The comma is not part of the song title, so therefore should be outside the quotes. I'll re-change those (I admit I did a search/replace on all comma/quotes without checking) and leave the ones relating to quoted speech. I'm sure I've read something relating to this on one of the other help pages - it's certainly part of the guidelines relating to wiki-links. I fear, though, that part of it is a difference between British and American English (as stated on the page you pointed me at). --IainP (talk) 21:28, 30 December 2005 (UTC)
- English would be great if there was just one version with standards! ;) --IainP (talk) 21:35, 30 December 2005 (UTC)

sock puppet request
I'm having a problem with an anonymous user reverting my edits to push a POV stance in an article. He's gotten around all the rules by using multiple IPs, always the same edit though, and always arguing with me on the talk page about it. He's suspiciously similar in style to a registered user, User:Commodore_Sloat and I was wondering if you could use your admin powers to check the registered editor's IP against the list of anon IPs to show whether he's a sockpuppet or not? The IP's are: 84.59.102.68, 84.59.93.251, 84.59.108.128, 82.109.66.144, 84.59.122.78, and 84.59.67.52 .
If not, could you tell me who to talk to about this? This user is getting unbearable, and I've already violated the 3RR and engaged in an edit war with him (which I stopped doing after realizing it was wrong) due to his repeated and determined efforts to push a POV standpoint. He's reverted no less than 4 differing people's edits over the past week to the same article. When I made a vote for consensus to settle the point once and for all, he personally attacked me in a statement on it, and after I pointed out that his vote does not count due to being anonymous (as per WP:WHY) he then got the registered Commoder Sloat account to come in and basically say the same thing.
Thank you for your time, I'll monitor anything you do on this on this page, as the anon is continually garbaging up my talk page with complaints. Swatjester 11:32, 24 January 2006 (UTC)
- Unfortunately, only developers can do IP checks. Contacting one might not produce results, so you should probably start by asking for mediation. If you feel the issue isn't tense and unfriendly, you could try informal mediation through the unofficial Mediation Cabal. If that's not the case, the official Wikipedia Mediation process is your best bet. If that proves unsuccessful, and all other measures have been exhausted, you can request arbitration. Keep in mind that before taking any of these steps, you should talk to Commodore Sloat to prove that personal attempts at resolving disputes have failed, if you haven't already. I have no personal experience with the process what-so-ever, so it might be to your benefit to ask someone more seasoned in dispute resolution. Sorry if that didn't help. Nufy8 18:12, 24 January 2006 (UTC)

- k. My problem isn;t Commodore Sloat, it's the anon IP. I was just trying to check and see if they were one and the same. Swatjester 18:19, 24 January 2006 (UTC)

Image Tagging Image:Kirkanos.JPG
|
Thanks for uploading Image:Kirkanos.JPG. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.
If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use {{GFDL}} to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, please read fair use, and then use a tag such as {{fairusein|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Andrew c 22:38, 10 February 2006 (UTC)

- Thank you for tagging your image. However, I am not sure you used the proper tag. Please note the following "To the uploader: please add a detailed fair use rationale for each use, as described on Wikipedia:Image description page, as well as the source of the work and copyright information." If you could add more information to this image, it would be extremely helpful and productive. Thanks again for tagging the image. --Andrew c 03:05, 11 February 2006 (UTC)

Pantera
Hi, I just happened across your comment that you left me. I do have creditable sources. My fiancee is Cheris Hart, the daughter of Donnie Hart, former lead singer of Pantera. She has had many talks with her father and the other band members about memebers before they were famous. She knows for fact that Donnie Pendelton was infact a singer. SHe, also, knows for fact that her father did not leave the band until 1986. Her parents dispute whether or not he actually started with the band or not, but he left the band because he needed to take care of his new daughter. So, Im not sure who your credits are, but apparently my sources are a little closer to home.
How much more verifiication do you need? I can get another picture with "old Pantera" for the page. Would you like Donnie Hart's phone number? I don't mean to sound disrespectful if I do.
Well, unfortunately none of that is published, and even more unfortunate not all of what is published is always 100% factual. Bummer.

Welcomer Smiley
quick AFD question
Ok so I have a question here, and I want a second opinion before I submit this as an AfD
The Drowned Baby Timeline appears to me to be non-notable fan-fiction. It's admittably fan-created alternate history by User:Johnny Pez. A google search of Drowned Baby Time Line and Drowned Baby Timeline both come up with a handful of hits, however two of those hits are the wikipedia and answers.com wiki entries, and the remainder appear to be either blog entries, submissions to short story database, and a link to a Flickr.com photo archive [1], [2]. Now I'm of the belief that while the article appears to be well written, it's non-notable. I don't want to generate any ill-will, however, and I wanted a second opinion before I submit to AfD. Do you think this should be submitted for deletion? Thanks. ⇒ SWATJester Ready Aim Fire! 14:31, 26 February 2006 (UTC)

Sincere Apology
Nufy8? This is the guy who kept changing the "Razor Train" into "Tren". I wanted to say thanks for giving me the heads-up and extend my apologies for not taking a hint when it was altered back the first time.
