Nueva Esperanza is a community development corporation founded in 1987 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania by Rev. Luis Cortes, Jr. and the Philadelphia Hispanic Clergy. In 2002, Nueva Esperanza founded Esperanza USA, its national subsidiary[1]. The mission statement of Nueva Esperanza reads: "Dedicated to the establishment of Hispanic owned and operated institutions that lead to the familial, economic and spiritual development of our communities"[2]. It has rehabilitated and built over 100 family homes and has helped over 1900 families obtain their first mortage[3].
