Nuendo is Steinberg's media production suite with audio and MIDI capabilities. Nuendo inherits all standard DAW functions from Steinberg's music production suite Cubase and also adds functionalities tailored to meet the demands of those working in Post-production, multimedia and surround projects. It accepts a wide range of VSTi plugins and is becoming a platform of choice for many artists due to the fact that it doesn't require proprietary hardware and can be operated on any computer with a compatible soundcard.

Nuendo is marketed primarily to professional audio and video engineers and is becoming a good solution for film mix stages, as it supports any ASIO (Steinberg's Audio Streaming Input Output Technology)-compatible soundcard including RME's line of MADI cards. That allows users to build a 112 output playback system for a fraction of the cost of the competition.
