NUAMES
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Northern Utah Academy for Math Engineering and Science (NUAMES) is a grade nine through twelve public charter high school started up in 2004 that specializes in preparing high school students for an early transition into a university baccalaureate program in fields related to math, engineering or science. The current Principal and Vice Principal is Robert Stillwell, and Debbie Hefner. The curriculum focuses on math, science, and engineering. Students are given the choice of attending college through the school once they have attended NUAMES for one full year and have demonstrated that they have the work ethic and maturity to do so.
Since NUAMES covers such a large geographical area, it is located on two sites - one in Roy (known as the North Site), and one in Kaysville (known as the South Site). Also, it is planned for the next school year (2007-2008) that both sites will be combined at the Weber State University Davis campus, where it is expected students will continue to work out of portables and some classrooms until a more permanent structure is constructed.
Mission Statement: The Mission of the Northern Utah Academy of Math, Engineering and Science, an Early College High School, is to create a learning community with cultures that support high expectations, inquiry, and efforts blended with the caring connections that encourage self discovery while maximizing student potential
