NSB El 18 is the main electric locomotive in NSB's fleet. The first locomotives were delivered in 1996. The class is based on the Swiss SBB Re 460 engine and are built by ADtranz. NSB has 22 of these engines in its fleet, numbered 18 2241 to 18 2262.
After NSB fissioned to form a passenger train company and the freight company CargoNet, the El 18s were given to the passenger company and now pull only passenger trains. They are used on all the main electrified stretches, especially the long-haul trains on Bergensbanen, Sørlandsbanen and Dovrebanen.
