National Program on Technology Enhanced Learning (NPTEL) (http://www.nptel.iitm.ac.in/) is a joint venture by the IITs and IISc and funded by the ministry of HRD, India.

The main objective of this program is to enhance quality of engineering education in the country by developing curriculum based video and web courses.

The website was formally launched on September 3, 2006.
