Nowe Książki

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Nowe Książki (New Books)- is the best-known and widely-available journal of new publications in Polish language. This monthly magazine is mostly concerned with works of literature (Polish and foreign), humanities and semi-scientific books (regular sections include About Literature, Cultural History, Art, Ideas/Ideology, Law, Philosophy, History, and Psychology/Psychotherapy). Each issue contains approximately 100 reviews and notes, while another 100 or so books are mentioned in the (Courier of Publishing News and Announcements). The latter is a supplement to Nowe Książki, which contains bibliographical data and concise descriptions of selected titles. This journal attempts to popularise literature, and hence its reviews and articles are highly communicative and clear, even though they are written by scholars and famous critics. Nowe Książki regularly profiles the life and output of famous writers or scholars (an interview with a featured guest of the issue and an accompanying article). There is also a foreign correspondence section and columns on literary and book trade events.

Publisher of the magazine in The National Library of Poland.
