"Now Who Wants Ice Cream?" was the fifth episode of the HBO series Mr. Show to air. It originally aired on November 15, 1996.

[edit] Cabin in Woods Cold Open
An image of a cabin the woods is shown, and a voice over says, "Tonight's Mr. Show is being broadcast from a cabin in the woods. It's our cabin, it's our property; leave us alone."

[edit] Sovereign Nation Open
Mary Lynn Rajskub introduces Bob and David, who tell the audience that Mr. Show is no longer a part of the United States of America and that it is a sovereign nation. They explain that they FBI has surrounded the building. David puts on a fake beard and a fake beer belly and volunteers to be the group's spokesman. Castmember Jill Talley enters, dragging in castmember Tom Kenny. Tom has been shot by the FBI because they shot him first. David angrily leaves the studio.

David exits the cabin, and he has become the character "Mountain Dougie". Mountain Dougie is a Southern man with a beard and a beer belly who has just made his own sovereign nation. The press and the FBI have surrounded his cabin. He angrily yells at them to get off his land.

[edit] Peterson Family News (KPFN)
A reporter named Harmon Peterson is covering the stand-off at Mountain Dougie's cabin for the network KPFN. Harmon gets into an argument with anchorman Brinks who keeps asking him questions. Harmon has no new information and keeps telling Brinks this, and he becomes angry at Brinks. Brinks reveals that we are watching the "Peterson Family Newscast"; and that Harmon was his brother. Brinks introduces video of "The Spitting Madonna" in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

[edit] Thrilling Miracles
The video of these miracles is all the introduction to the television infomercial Thrilling Miracles. Host Pat Franks introduces the show's "resident homemaker" Nancy Gumphrey and Ernie, a British inventor. His invention is the "8-in-1 Superpan." Pat excuses himself to use the restroom and he leaves Ernie alone with Nancy. Ernie quickly becomes evil and burns Nancy's hand on the pan and throws boiling milk at her face. Pat returns and finds out from Nancy what Ernie had done to her. He begins hitting Ernie with a pan and Ernie jumps out the window and begins to fly. He encourages Nancy to come with him. She tries and falls to her death, as Ernie explains that only British people can fly. Ernie begins to fly and sing until he is shot and falls to his death.

Ernie has been shot down by Mountain Dougie. The FBI comes and surrenders to Dougie, and they leave. He suddenly becomes very lonely. He calls his country "New Freeland" and begins to get used to his new life. Dougie decides that his country needs an anthem, so he hires "a lady from the City" to write one for him. The lady is a stereotypically gay male singer. Dougie becomes more and more lonely, and he decides to visit America.

Dougie is at the U.S. Customs office and he has decided to move to the United States. The man at customs will not let him come through because New Freeland is in Montana, which already makes Dougie a citizen. Two friends are returning from Amsterdam and they ask each other wheree they put their illegal drugs. The first friend explains that he put his in shampoo bottles and the second friend does not have time to answer the question because the first is called up to the Customs desk. During his questioning, the first friend cannot stop using the word shampoo, which confuses the Customs Offficer who eventually lets him go. The second friend approaches the desk; and when asked where he was coming from, he says, "I was in Italy and I took a balloon up my ass to Spain." The Officer waves the man through.

Still in the Customs Office, F.F. Woodycooks, a red-haired detective with a funny moustache and a funny voice introduces himself to the camera. He introduces his crime-related television show Take Back the Streets. Woodycooks is a parody of J.J. Bittenbinder and Take Back the Streets is a parody of Bittenbinder's own show, Tough Target. Woodycooks introduces a dramatization of a security guard who fools two criminals. After the dramatization, Woodycooks informs the audience that the guard was him. He then is seen at his own "F.F. Woodycooks Ice Cream Parlour Precinct", one of three ice cream shops that he owns.

A voice over reveals that F.F. Woodycooks Ice Cream is the official sponsor of the Independent Nations Games, an Olympics-type ceremony for all of the new sovereign nations that the FBI has surrendered two. Two sportscasters cover the games and introduce many bearded men with bear bellies who now have their own countries. All of the participants are from the state of Montana.

The news is covering an FBI standoff at the house of an old man. It is the fourth day of the stand-off. However, the old man has not done anything wrong, and the FBI will not leave until they get his cooperation. An earlier phone conversation between the FBI and the old man is played and the old man seems very confused.
