[edit] Gibbs Sr.

I have put a note at the top of the Willard Gibbs page. -- Curps 21:39, 20 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Wow! Lightning fast! :)

[edit] Aaron d

Sorry, I intended to revert some changes by an anon, who changed the Partitions of Poland into Partitions of Poland and Lithuania, which is not a correct name since the name of the state was Poland and the existance of Lithuania as a separate entity was put to an end by May Constitution of Poland. However, something must've went wrong and apparently I reverted back to a wrong version. Sorry for that. Halibutt 08:21, Mar 28, 2005 (UTC)

No problem. I was wondering if it was some sort of joke.. :) Nova77 17:12, 28 Mar 2005 (UTC)
If it was a joke - I didn't get it either :) Cheers Halibutt 00:09, Mar 29, 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Switzerland

I've made an edit to try to remove any concern you may have had about the text being misleading. Let me know what you think and how can it be improved if necessary. Thanks. Parmaestro 16:45, 30 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Now it seems very balanced, thank you. Nova77 20:41, 30 Apr 2005 (UTC)

[edit] marginal distribution

There is something I don't understand in this explanation: why are the joint distribution and conditional distribution equal here? Nova77 05:14, 11 Feb 2005 (UTC)

They're not. I've looked at old versions and I can't find what makes you think they are. Michael Hardy 19:59, 7 May 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Feng Shui as Pseudoscience

That's reasonable, and I suppose I should have explained myself more clearly. The first line of the Pseudoscience article says, "Pseudoscience refers to any body of knowledge or practice which purports to be scientific or supported by science but which is judged by the mainstream scientific community to fail to comply with the scientific method." It seemed to me that Feng Shui failed to meet the first of these criteria since I didn't note any claims "to be scientific or supported by science" in its article. Perhaps this claim is made in a wider context, or perhaps I simply didn't read the Feng Shui article carefully enough, but lacking such a claim in the article it seemed inconsistent to me. It's actually explicit in describing Feng Shui as a "belief system". Csernica 23:00, 19 Jun 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Smizmar

If you look at the edit histories of Smizmar[1] and Futurama (TV series)[2], you will note that User:The Epopt merged the salient point of the original Smizmar article (the entirety was "Smizmar is a word derived from the Adult Swim television show, Futurama. It means "life partner".") into the Futurama article ("Smizmar means "life partner" in the Linguistics section). My understanding is that the requirements of GFDL licensing mean we need to keep the original contribution history of all Wikipedia content available, and that history in this case is in the history record of the Smizmar article. Niteowlneils 00:58, 12 July 2005 (UTC)

I see. I should have looked more deeply: I did a google search for it and found nothing related to Futurama, therefore I thought it was just vandalism. Also the way it is right now, it's a double redirection. Shouldn't it redirect directly to Futurama_(TV_series)? Thx again! Nova77 04:07, 12 July 2005 (UTC)

[edit] The bible

Firstly let me say that I am sorry to have to bother you.

Secondly, I wish to let you know that a recent VFD that you took part in has closed. The result was that 32 people voted to keep all individual bible verses as seperate articles, and 34 voted that they shouldn't (2 abstensions, and 3 votes for both). This is considered by standard policy not to be a consensus decision (although the closing admin stated that it was a consensus to keep them).

Thirdly, the subject has now been put to a survey, so that it may remain open until there is a clear consensus for what appears to be a difficult issue to resolve. You may wish to take part in this survey, and record a similar vote to the one you made at the VFD there. The survey is available at Wikipedia:Bible verses.

SimonP (the creator of the 100 or so gospel verse articles) has tried to claim that the votes for the "only notable verses" section would include most of the 30,000 verses of the bible because he sees them as notable. To avoid such a POV twisting of the votes, I have added a new section - [3] - for voting on whether the number of notable verses is more like 30,000, or more like 30. Would you care to vote there as well? ~~~~ 00:31, 25 July 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Bible Vote

Hate to trouble you again, but a category on Wikipedia:Bible verses was recently added, 'A vast minority', and it seems that your vote probably would have gone there had it been there when you voted. Almafeta 17:22, 29 July 2005 (UTC)

[edit] relativism

This strange relativism of the knowledge is, in my opinion, just irrational. Sorry. long day. brain fried. can you rephrase this with short words? FuelWagon 17:35, 10 August 2005 (UTC)

Sure. Long day for me too. :o)
What I wanted to say is that compare modern science with, for instance, shamanism just because is also an human endeavor for understanding is IMHO, plainly wrong. I am not saying that the scientific method holds the absolute truth (it even goes against its own definition), but is by far the best method we have nowadays to discriminate what is a real to hoaxes. --Nova77 17:58, 10 August 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Darwin's name

Thank you for fixing that small valdalism -- some angry person adding Liverworst to Darwin's name. And it wasn't even spelled right (Liverwurst). Arnold Perey (--Aperey 15:51, 1 August 2005 (UTC))

[edit] FSM images..

Wow...good job getting the creators of the Flying Spaghetti Monster images to release them under the GFDL :D — Ilγαηερ (Tαlκ) 15:49, 27 August 2005 (UTC)

It's not GFDL yet, and I've replaced the tag for Image:Flying Spaghetti Monster.jpg with the more accurate Template:CopyrightedFreeUseProvidedThat. It's still great that we have a license for it now, though we could all rest a little easier if the image were released under the same terms as the site itself and had no other restrictions. --Ardonik.talk()* 18:40, August 27, 2005 (UTC)
Thanks Ilyanep. I got the idea from the Stanislaw Lem's images ([4]). As for the GFDL tag, I did ask explicitly for that, so I was assuming that the author granted it, even if not 100% explicitly. But Ardonik, you're probably right, this a better tag. --Nova77 20:10, 27 August 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Lamestream

Hi Nova77 I'm rather new to Wikipedia so please forgive any ignorance or incorrect actions on my part. I am trying to learn the correct proceedures for using this site. With that said, I was wondering why the word Lamestream had been marked for deletion by you? I could not find justification or problems listed to correct. Please inform me of these and I'll make every attempt to correct the entry. --oadine 20:44, 07 December 2005 (UTC)

Well, basically for two reasons:
Don't worry about the mistake, it is normal at the beginning. If you have time, have a read to What Wikipedia is not.
--Nova77 18:16, 8 December 2005 (UTC)

Is there a way to export to Wikitionary from wikipedia?

Not that I am aware of. But you could just make a copy&paste of the page edit. --Nova77 13:49, 10 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Rock Paper Scissors

Hey, I saw your note about the deleted material in the rock paper scissors article. I think it's great, but it still doesn't quite belong here - maybe submit it to uncyclopedia? -MBlume 01:09, 6 June 2006 (UTC)

Sorry for answering so late, I was on holiday. Yeah, it was a great quote, but I agree that uncyclopedia is probably a better place. Nova77 18:09, 12 June 2006 (UTC)
