Novosil

Novosil (Russian: Новоси́ль) is a town in Oryol Oblast, Russia, located on the right bank of the Zusha River some 70 km east of Oryol. Population: 3,900 (2005 est.); 4,017 (2002 Census).
Novosil was first mentioned in 1155 as a fortress called Itil and was the seat of a branch of the Rurikid family in the Middle Ages. Novosil's town status was officially corroborated in 1777.
