Nova Squadron (Star Trek)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In the fictional Star Trek universe, Nova Squadron was an elite precision flight team consisting of five Starfleet Academy cadets that had demonstrated exceptional piloting abilities.

In 2368, Nova Squadron was comprised of Cadet First Class Nicholas Locarno, Cadets Second Class Sito Jaxa and Jean Hajar, and Cadets Wesley Crusher and Joshua Albert. Led by Locarno, the team was preparing for a flight demonstration at the upcoming Starfleet commencement when an accident destroyed all five ships and killed Cadet Albert. The four surviving pilots then conspired to cover up the true cause of the accident: the team had been practicing a Kolvoord Starburst, an exceedingly difficult and dangerous maneuver that had been banned by the Academy a century earlier when all five members of Nova Squadron were killed in a similar accident.
