Nova Serbia or New Serbia (Serbian: Нова Србија or Nova Srbija) was a territory of Imperial Russia in 1752-1764. It was located in the territory of present-day Kirovohrad Oblast of Ukraine. Administrative centre of Nova Serbia was Novomyrhorod.
Region was named after Serbs, who migrated in 1752 to Russia from Habsburg Monarchy (mainly from the territory of present-day Vojvodina province of Serbia). Russian authorities gave to these Serbian settlers a land, which granted name Nova Serbia (New Serbia).
In the new home, Serbs established many new places, and gave to these places same names as the names of the places in their old motherland. Such places whose names were same in Nova Serbia and in the territory of present-day Vojvodina in the Republic of Serbia include: Sombor, Sentomaš, Slankamen (Slankamin), Vršac (Veršac), Subotica, Mošorin, Senta, Kanjiža (Kaniž), Martonoš, Pančevo, etc.
