Nova Scotia Court of Appeal

The Nova Scotia Court of Appeal is the court of appeal in the province of Nova Scotia, Canada. There are nine Justices, one Chief Justice, and two supernumerary (semi-retired) Justices. The court sits in Halifax. Cases are heard by a panel of three judges and over the year they rule on roughly 250 cases.

[edit] Jurisdiction
The court derives its power from s. 38 of the federal Nova Scotia Judicature Act. It hears appeals from the Supreme Court of Nova Scotia, Provincial Court of Nova Scotia, and various tribunals.
Cases tried by the court can be appealed to the Supreme Court of Canada, but in practice only happens a few times a year.
