Nosgoth timeline

This article refers to the Legacy of Kain videogame series.

The history of Nosgoth is twisted web of intrigue. At many key points in the land's history, the flow of time has been altered. Below, the timeline uses Kain's original quest as year zero and previous and subsequent events are measure with BBO (Before Blood Omen) or ABO (After Blood Omen).

• 15,000+ BBO – The Ancients and the Hylden first appear in Nosgoth. Both civilizations worship the Elder God.
• 10,000+ BBO – Humans first appear in Nosgoth.
• c. 7,000 BBO – The Hylden reject the Elder God’s teachings and obtain immortality. The war between the Ancients and the Hylden begins.
• c. 5,000 BBO – Vorador forges The Reaver for the Ancients and is transformed into a Vampire. The Hylden are banished, but curse the Ancients as they go, turning the Ancients into Vampires. The Pillars are raised, binding the Hylden. The Elder God stops speaking to the Ancients.
• c. 2,000-3,000 BBO – The Elder God speaks to Moebius. Moebius and Mortanius revolt against the Vampire Guardians. The Pillars fall under human control.
• c. 1,000-1,500 BBO – Nosgoth's Vampire population increases, The Order of the Sarafan Brotherhood is formed to combat it.
• c. 530 BBO – Raziel, Turel, Dumah, Rahab, Zephon and Melchiah are born.
• 500 BBO – Raziel, Turel, Dumah, Rahab, Zephon and Melchiah as part of the Sarafan Brotherhood kill Janos Audron and take his heart. In one timeline they are killed by wraith Raziel. In responce to Janos Audron's death Vorador kills six unnamed Circle members. Ariel, Nupraptor, Dejoule, Bane, Azimuth and Anacrothe are born. Malek is stripped of his flesh for failing the Circle of Nine. (Unaltered timeline: the Reaver consumes wraith Raziel and becomes the Soul Reaver.)
• c. 470 BBO – Ariel, Nupraptor, Dejoule, Bane, Azimuth and Anacrothe become members of the Circle of Nine.
• c. 68 BBO – William the Just is born.
• c. 55 BBO – King Ottmar is born.
• 50 BBO – Moebius gives William the Just the Soul Reaver. Kain arrives from future. Death of William the Just. William's Soul Reaver is broken during their battle. Moebius’ Vampire genocide begins. (Unaltered timeline: the Reaver, along with Moebius' coersions, starts to corrupt William, eventually transforming him into the Nemesis.)
• 30 BBO – Ariel is murdered by Mortanius being controlled by the Hash'ak'gik (Hylden). The Pillars of Nosgoth become corrupted. Kain is born. Raziel repairs the broken Soul Reaver. Nupraptor the Mentalist, Ariel's lover, falls to madness. Turel presumably arrives from the future around this time and is controlled by Hylden. (Unaltered timeline: Raziel kills the future Kain with the Soul Reaver.)
• 30 BBO-1 BBO – The Circle descends into madness. Azimuth steals the Timestreaming Device. Dark Eden is built. Kain leaves Coorhagen.
• 0 – Kain is killed and Mortanius uses Janos Audron's heart to turn him into a vampire. Kain obtains the Soul Reaver and the Timestreaming Device. Deaths of Nupraptor, Malek, Dejoule, Bane, Azimuth, Vorador, Moebius, Anacrothe and Mortanius. The Pillars of Nosgoth fall and the Hylden are released from exile. Raziel kills Turel, and willingly enters the Reaver and purifies the blade. Future version of Kain becomes the Scion of Balance. (Unaltered timeline: The Battle of the Last Stand occurs. Death of King Ottmar.)
• *200 ABO – Kain teams together with a (mysteriously) resurrected Vorador and an army of vampires, and begins his campaign of total conquest. Kain is defeated at Meridian at the hands of the leader of a new Sarafan army, known only as the Sarafan Lord.
• 400 ABO – Kain reawakens from near-death and rejoins Vorador with the Cabal, the vampire resistance against the Sarafan at Meridian. Kain discovers the Hylden and frees Janos Audron from his imprisonment. Janos is thrown into the Hylden Gate by the Sarafan Lord. Kain defeats the Sarafan Lord and resumes his conquest.
• 500 ABO – Kain raises Raziel, Turel, Dumah, Rahab, Zephon and Melchiah from their tomb. Kain and his lieutenants proceed to conquer all of Nosgoth.
• 1,500 ABO – Kain's empire is absolute. Raziel is seemingly executed for evolving faster than Kain. In actuality, he is executed in accordance with the visions of Raziel's destiny that Kain has foreseen using Moebius' Time Machine.
• 1,500-2,500+ ABO – Turel, Dumah, Rahab, Zephon and Melchiah start evolving/degenerating. Turel is transported back in time by Azimuth and possibly Moebius.
• 2,500+ ABO – Raziel is reborn as a wraith, presumably resurrected by the Elder God. The Soul Reaver is destroyed. Raziel’s own soul is mistaken for the remains of the Soul Reaver and is bound to him. Raziel slays and consumes the souls of the Vampires Dumah, Rahab, Zephon and Melchiah. Raziel and Kain travel back in time.

(Some of the above dates are speculation based on passing references in the games. Others are estimates based on how long it would logically take for civilizations to advance, structures to deteriorate or creatures to evolve.)

• *200 ABO - A possible reason for this "(Mysteriously) resurrected Vorador" is based off the event in which Kain intervened when the Soul Reaver attempted to bind with wraith Raziel in Soul Reaver 2. The theory is that because the Soul Reaver was now incomplete, it changed the timeline to where William the Just never became the Nemesis, but the main story of Kain's elimination of the corrupted Guardians still continues. In the end, Kain still choose to lead his Dark Empire. This time he was able to recruit still existing Vampires including a very alive Vorador.
