[edit] Somerville College, Oxford
I commented out the lists because they're not really encyclopædic (note that none of the other articles on Oxbridge colleges have them). I speak as a former MCR president myself, so it's not sour grapes). If any of the people involved is now famous, then mention of that would be appropriate (perhaps in the form of a notation by their name in the lists of notable old members).
Incidentally, note what I say above about "signing" your messages; it makes it much easier to reply to you. --Mel Etitis (Μελ Ετητης) 09:46, 15 March 2006 (UTC)
Sorry about signing, at the time I did not have an account, now I do.
I suppose its a point that other College do not have it, but then again I'm not sure that should be a deciding factor. None of these people may be famous yet, but a decision was taken inside Somerville to recognise former MCR and JCR preidents, and I thought that decision should be reflected on Wikipedia. It is factually correct, so I apologise but I still don't quoite see why it should not be there. The listing of the current MCR and JCR presients is hardly encyclopedic either, but you do that...
Just my opinion...
Nordenfeldt.
- I'm not sure what you mean by the decision being taken in Somerville; recognition in what sense? I think that a case can be made for including the current presidents (though it does lead to difficulties when they change). --Mel Etitis (Μελ Ετητης) 13:37, 15 March 2006 (UTC)
Perhaps I'm not being clear, my bad. Somerville College, as in governing body, asked the MCR to keep trach of former presidents on its webpage. I presume the same was done for the JCR. I just thought there was no reason why this historical data could not also be included here. In the end its your call. I don't really see a good reason why it should not be added, but I don't know this place that well, so I leave it in your hands.
- My feeling is that, if it's on the MCR Webpage, to which we link, then that's probably good enough. (Are there really no Somerville JCR/MCR presidents who have become well-known? Perhaps such people were too busy with their studies...
- I wonder if my College has done the same; I'll have to check, to make sure they haven't missed me off the list. --Mel Etitis (Μελ Ετητης) 15:06, 15 March 2006 (UTC)
