[edit] Asharoken and Eatons Neck

Asharoken and Eatons Neck both fall under the US Postal Zip Code of Northport, New York (11768), and students from these locations are considered part of the Northport-East Northport Union Free School District. However, Asharoken is an Incorporated Village of the Town of Huntington and Eatons Neck is its own independent census-designated place and a hamlet in the Town of Huntington.

So I pose the question for fellow Wikipedians, do Asharoken and Eatons Neck count as part of Northport? If something happened in Asharoken or Eatons Neck, is it correct or incorrect to say it happened in Northport? As a former resident I was raised with the understanding that both areas were indeed part of Northport and I'm sure many of you feel the same way. But as Wikipedians (witholding personal opinions), is this truly right? Since each area is recognized by Suffolk County and New York State as having a population of residents independent of Northport, it would seem to me that that Asharoken and Eatons Neck are not technically part of Northport, and the facts about the Zip Code and School District are nothing more than interesting trivia. Before I (and others) edit according to those assumed facts, I encourage additional opinions on this argument. Thanks. Fife Club 04:19, 31 October 2006 (UTC)
