Talk:Northern Mongoloid

Are Turkic Mongoloids also considered Northern Mongoloids? john k 04:05, 22 July 2005 (UTC) I believe so. (but not all Turkic speakers are Mongoloid) --JWB 04:48, 22 July 2005 (UTC)

Makes sense - perhaps this should be indicated. What about the Uralic peoples? I know Finns, Estonians, and Hungarians are basically White/Caucasian/West Eurasian. But what about all those little groups in Siberia, and the Lapps (or whatever the PC term is), and so forth? john k 05:34, 22 July 2005 (UTC)
On the Caucasoid-Mongoloid axis, they are at different intermediate points. If you look at specific genetic markers, there are some that reflect the Caucasoid-Mongoloid split, and others that reflect other patterns, for example markers that are specific only to this area and decrease outside of it.--JWB 06:23, 22 July 2005 (UTC)
As far as I have read... the Turks, originally from (basically) western Mongolia, moved through Central Asia, and conquered territory including modern day Turkey; before this there were Indo-European languages being spoken there, together called Anatolian, and presumably the people there were closer to "European". The Turks then gave their language and some genetic input to the modern Turkish nation.

[edit] RE: the picture

Blue eyes are NOT a typical trait of northern mongoloids, rather, a somewhat common trait of northern mongoloids with caucasoid admixture.
