Norwegian Star is a cruise ship operated by Norwegian Cruise Line
[edit] History
The vessel entered service at the end of 2001. She was originally intended to operate with Star Cruises under the name SuperStar Libra, but it was decided that the ship would be assigned to Norwegian Cruise Lines. The vessel was christened in a dual ceremony with another NCL vessel, Norwegian Sun.
[edit] Vessel Class
Norwegian Star was the first in a line of SuperStar vessels constructed at Meyer Werft Shipyard in Papenburg, Germany. Each vessel of this class is slightly different from the last while maintaining a similar outward appearance. Sister ships currently sailing are Norwegian Dawn (launched in 2002), Norwegian Jewel (launched in 2005), and Pride of Hawaii (launched in 2006). Two more vessels of this class, Norwegian Pearl and Norwegian Gem, are currently under construction, due for delivery in 2006 and 2007 respectively.
[edit] Current cruises
Norwegian Star currently operates cruises in Alaska and the Mexican Riviera.
