Nortt
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Nortt is a Danish one-man black / funeral doom metal band. According to the band's only member, also known as Nortt, the lyrical themes of the band mainly deal with "death, which is viewed as an inevitable and alluring phenomenon. Death is described from the perspective of the dying and from the dead. The uncertainty of death is preached as more thrilling than the well-known pain of life."[1]
While the sound of his music is more similar to funeral doom, he is akin to black metal in his lyrics and imagery. An example of this is the corpse paint he wears. [2]. Nortt calls his music "Pure Depressive Black Funeral Doom Metal".
Nortt started creating music in 1995. [3]. For his next full-length album, announced for autumn 2007, he signed with Avantgarde Music.
He is a self-proclaimed nihilist, and believes that religion is for the weak. He takes pride in being a strong individual and repeatedly degrades "weak" individuals. While he despises religion, he views the occult and old religions with respect. Nortt believes that it takes strength to be Satanist because of its existinentialism and free thought. [4]
