Northwest Progressive Institute
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Northwest Progressive Institute is a progressive think tank located in Washington State.
The Northwest Progressive Institute, or NPI for short, was founded in August of 2003. It is run entirely by volunteers. It operates its official blog (begun in March 2004) and Pacific Northwest Portal (begun in January 2005).
[edit] Mission & Purpose
NPI's mission, from its own website, is as follows:
We will work as a forum for positive thought, an oasis for the promotion of peace and freedom, a warning against corruption and ignorance, and a light for others.
Its website contains issue pages that suggest federal, state, and regional policies that should be adopted. Its stances are progressive, or liberal, in nature.
[edit] Projects
NPI's numerous divisions and projects include Pacific Northwest Portal, Permanent Defense, and its official blog. NPI also has a boycott list (of companies it suggests consumers should avoid purchasing from) a reading list (of books it suggests citizens should read) and an extensive directory of links to other progressive organizations.
Its topic pages include: The Environment, International Affairs, Economic Policy, National Defense, Energy & Power, Healthcare, Direct Democracy, Education, and Technology.
