North/Northwest Phoenix is a neighborhood in Phoenix, Arizona. It is largely suburban-style residential in nature, and was largely developed after the 1960's, with some parcels still awaiting development to this day, especially in the easternmost portions closest to the border with Scottsdale. The neighborhoods east of 7th Street tend to become more upscale as the city limits approach Scottsdale, while neighborhoods west of 7th Street tend to be more traditional suburban middle-class.

Major east-west arterial streets include Bell Road, Union Hills Drive, and Thunderbird Road. Major north-south streets that serve the area most include 7th, 19th and 35th Avenues as well as Tatum Boulevard (essentially an arterial extension of 44th Street).

Notable districts include Deer Valley, which is bounded roughly by Bell Road to the south, Deer Valley Road to the north, 19th Avenue to the east and the border with Glendale to the west. Deer Valley has a regional airport which serves general and corporate aviation, as well as a regional power center near the intersection of State Route 101 and I-17, which is anchored by a Target store and an AMC movie theater complex. American Express, Discover Card and Best Western Hotels operate major customer service call centers in this area.

Paradise Valley Mall is a major regional shopping center located roughly at Tatum Boulevard and Cactus Road. It is not located in the town of Paradise Valley, which is an exclusive, highly upscale independent municipality surrounded by Phoenix and Scottsdale, but the mall is about four miles to the north.

Kierland Commons is a major upscale master-planned shopping, residential and resort community developed in the late 1990's and is located on the eastern edge of Phoenix, on the border with Scottsdale.

There are many hills in the northern area, including Deem Hills and Ludden Mountain.
