North Jakarta International School

North Jakarta International School (NJIS), in Jakarta (Indonesia), aims to provide its students with the opportunities, resources, instruction, and environment to pursue academic and personal excellence through an international school curriculum with a U.S. orientation, and to help them form the basis from which to become life-long learners and productive, involved citizens in a changing, global society.

The school is located on a 20,000 m² site in Kelapa Gading, northern Jakarta. The school boast a wide range of facilities including swimming pool, a gymnasion, a soccer field, a playground, a computer lab, a classroom for each grade level, and a clinic for medical purposes. There are over 330 students enrolled, representing 25 different nationalities and an age span from 4 to 15 years.

NJIS was established in January 1990, and later licensed by the Ministry of education to provide schooling for the children of expatriates residing in Jakarta. It is recognized by the Ministry of Education as a Yayasan (not-for-profit social foundation) and operates as an independent, not for profit, co-educational day school for Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 10. A six-person Board of Governors oversees it. NJIS is a member of both the East Asia Regional Council of Overseas Schools (EARCOS), based in the Philippines, and the European Council of International Schools (ECIS), based in the United Kingdom. NJIS is fully accredited by ECIS. Most NJIS programs are associated with its doctrine called the 3Cs. The 3Cs are caring, communication, and curricullum.
