North Holmwood

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

North Holmwood is a residential area on the outskirts of Dorking, in Surrey, England. The village is accessible off the A24, and all roads of the village lead off Spook Hill.

[edit] The Village

At first glance North Holmwood appears small, consisting of just three roads - Bentsbrook Road, Bentsbrook Park and Holmsdale Road - however, the village is surprisingly large when you venture into the latter of the three.

The main features of the village include:

The Newsagent - Fourboys - There is ample parking space despite the shop sharing the road with the residents.

The Church - St. John's - A quaint little church popular with marrying couples.

The Hairdresser's - Which also does nail painting.

The Pond - Despite having never caught a fish, there is always a group of young fishermen on its rather small banks.

Village Hall - Which has featured such events as golf sales and sca-electrics racing.

Holmwood Surgery - The well functioning clinic houses Dr Thompson and Dr Chappell.

The pond, its heron, and church can look quite elegant on the common, when caught in the evening light.

[edit] Transport

North Holmwood has two bus stops located either side of the newsagent's.

However, the nearest train station is "Holmwood" which is the station shared by South, Mid and North Holmwood - located on the far side of South Holmwood, which is a good four miles away.
